NOTICES FOR 10 March 2019

WORD ALIVE  Everyone welcome to join us, on (generally) the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 7.30pm in the lounge. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 20th March when we start the second session of four, looking at the life of David – 1 Samuel 22. Prior to each meeting at about 6.50pm there is an intercessory prayer meeting for 25 minutes to which all are welcome. Word Alive follows at 7.30pm with a cup of tea when we begin our Bible study.

Matt Forsyth, from ALL WE CAN will be cycling to every church in the Peterborough Circuit on the 16th March to raise funds for the Zaafari Refugee Camp in Jordan. To support this the Stewards at Brookside will be holding a fund raising coffee and cake morning on the 23rd March from 10.30am to 12pm. It is proposed to charge £4 per head with accompanied children being free. Please come and support us.  Brookside Stewards.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING  Just a reminder that the next Church Council meeting will take place on Monday 11th March at 7.30pm.  This is the best way to find out what is happening in the life and work of our church.  Everyone is welcome to attend, although only elected Church Councillors are entitled to vote.  Apologies for absence should be sent to Chris Hardman or Rev Langley

On Thursday March 21st KEYS continue the LENT STUDY based on the character of Jesus. This week we will be led by Marion Gater and you are welcome to join us for tea or coffee, prayer, study and discussion from 10.15 until noon.

Pam will be doing TEAS AND COFFEES  in

March for Cystic Fibrosis Research. Please donate kindly – thank you.

LENT COURSE  Rev Langley will be leading a Lent course during the weeks leading up to Easter to which everyone is warmly invited. The theme will be based loosely around the 'Holy Habits' series, where we will begin by looking at the significance of Breaking Bread, and share in some teaching/discussion on the themes that flow from Holy Communion.

The dates for the course are: March 14th, 21st, 28th, April 3rd, 11th. These are all Thursday evenings apart from 3rd April which is a Wednesday. The sessions will begin at 7.30pm in the Sanctuary.  We hope you will feel able to come and take part in some, or all, of the evenings and will benefit from this time of reflection and teaching.

As folks may be aware, our friends from other churches have been looking to develop a week of prayer together, and we are all invited to partake. Some details are to be confirmed, but this gives a taste of what will be on offer. If anyone is interested or wants to find out more, please contact Graham.

The week of prayer shall run from Sunday night June 2nd until Saturday Night 8th of June. We shall use the Way Church Building and create a “Prayer Room” using the main sanctuary for prayer stations and the back room for a quieter space. We will use the coffee area as space for fellowship and hospitality.

We identified the need to “gather in unity” at the start of the week and propose that we kick off with a special “PE4 UNITED CONNECT SERVICE” on Sunday June 2nd in the evening at the Way.

Small Groups to be encouraged to use the prayer space during the week instead of their regular meetings.

Thursday PM Hope Peterborough Prayer Event led by Ron Watkinson and team – City Focus

Friday PM Youth Led “Prayer for the World” Event – Led by youth but open to all – Led by Newton and Team with Phil from Operation Mobilisation (OM)

Saturday PM Celebration. A time to praise and prayer. Reviewing what God has said to us during the week.

There are a number of other ideas that may come together. Including: Prayer Walk, Men’s Breakfast, Fasting (not on the same day!) Prayer on the Streets. “Why Prayer” and “Thy Kingdom Come” prayer initiatives.

We are looking for “Vision Champions” contacts - especially from All Saints and Brookside, so we can keep communications flowing as will build up to the event.

VERY IMPORTANT: We are looking for creative people to set up the prayer space at the Way church. Please email caroljtarver@hotmail.com if you are interested in helping.

We will also be looking for volunteers to be hosts and those who can offer prayer ministry. People will sign up for shifts during the week and will receive full training. Please can those interested email anrasmith@ntlworld.com

I am hoping that even though I am on sabbatical, this opportunity might give our Church a meaningful and valuable focus as we continue to discern how God is calling us to serve our local community. Every blessing, Langley.
